Brian May slams ‘scummy’ article

BRIAN MAY has expressed his fury at an article that appeared over the weekend, which he views as a ‘betrayal’.
Taking to his website, the Queen guitarist described the piece as ‘garbage’, ‘crass’ and ‘amateurish’, speculating that ‘you just have to wonder how these people sleep at night, churning out this cheap rubbish’.
May seems to have become enraged by the fact that the book he is promoting — Queen In 3-D, a first of its kind photographic biography of the band, complete with stereoscopic specs — has largely been ignored in favour of what he sees as ‘tired old’ material about his relationship with frontman Freddie Mercury.

Writing on his site, he said: ‘The opening of the piece inside says, “Tragedy, debauchery… and dwarves… ” !!NONE of this tired old stuff features in the book, or was discussed in the interview.’
He added: ‘I’m angry and disgusted. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such crass journalism and experienced such a betrayal of trust.’
But what May seems most exercised about is that, despite giving the paper exclusive access to the book, hardly any of the pictures — which he claims are so good they have made people ‘gasp’ — were included.
In a parting shot, May called out the journalist and her ‘scummy pals’ saying: ‘I hope you think it was worth it. Because neither I nor any intelligent reader of this travesty will ever give you the time of day from here on in.’
