Boy George hangs up on radio host over ‘gender bending’ quip

BOY GEORGE dialled up the drama by hanging up on an Australian radio host mid-interview.
Tension filled the airwaves when the Culture Club frontman was asked how his ‘gender bending’ had influenced ’80s kids.
‘Like David Bowie before you, you were certainly celebrated for being “gender bending”,’ said ABC breakfast show host Fran Kelly.
The dismayed singer, who will tour Down Under later this month, replied: ‘You keep referring to me in past context. We’re talking in real time.’
Kelly continued: ‘Yes, but maybe times have moved on and the gender bending is not such a surprise.’
After an awkward silence, the 56-year-old sighed: ‘You’re boring me, goodbye,’ then ended the call.
He later tweeted his reaction had ‘zero to do with the question’.
‘I respond to warmth! Period,’ he added.
