Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil is so proud to be the first of Fender

BIFFY CLYRO’S frontman Simon Neil had to ‘double check’ there hadn’t been a mistake when the Q Awards told him he would be the first-ever recipient of the Fender Play Award.
The gong, which celebrates ‘inspirational guitar figures’ will be presented to the 39-year-old Scot at the Camden Roundhouse in London next week.
Speaking exclusively to Guilty Pleasures about the honour, the Black Chandelier rocker said: ‘I thought it was crazy. Everyone remembers the person who wins the first Olympics and now they’ll remember me being the first Fender winner!’
Simon added: ‘But it means a lot… my main aim is not to be successful, but to inspire kids in small towns to join a band — whatever the genre — get out there, and f***ing do it.’
