Benedict Cumberbatch played fast and sleuth with Sherlock Emmy

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH is hotly tipped to pick up an Emmy award tonight — and if he wins, he promises not to lose the gong this time.
The 42-year-old wasn’t around to pick up his trophy in person when he won an Emmy four years ago, for Sherlock. But this year he will be at the Los Angeles bash to see if he wins leading actor for Showtime’s drama Patrick Melrose.
Recalling his Sherlock Emmy, Cumberbatch said: ‘I think mine got lost. It got sent to SunnyMarch, my production office, and there it sat. I was really happy to get it but I don’t think I looked at it for a good six months.
‘I used to come in and think, “What the hell is that huge red box in the corner?” Eventually, I asked someone, “What is that red box?” and they went, “It’s your Emmy”. So I looked and I had a moment of looking at it going, “Bloody hell, it’s huge. It’s heavy. How bizarre”.’
