Backlash against Ann Widdecombe’s ‘Meghan is trouble’ comments on Celebrity Big Brother

CELEBRITY Big Brother contestant Ann Widdecombe is not known for keeping her views to herself, but this time she might have gone too far — with comments made about Prince Harry’s intended.
The former Tory MP is enjoying a stint on the Channel 5 show, which kicked off last week with an all-female line-up to mark 100 years since women gained the right to vote, but it seems Ann’s not quite on message with the sisterhood.
Speaking to fellow housemate Boris Johnson’s sister Rachel and others while having make-up applied by Made In Chelsea star Ashley James, Ann said of Harry’s fiancée Meghan Markle: ‘I think she’s trouble.’
When questioned why, she said: ‘Background, attitude… I worry. I add it all up and I’m uneasy, but there we go.’

To be fair, Ann — who was taken to the nation’s hearts after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 — wasn’t exactly vehement in expressing her views against Harry’s choice of bride, but the timing couldn’t have been worse as it came on a day Meghan had charmed crowds during a visit to a Brixton youth radio station.
And many CBB viewers were unimpressed by the remarks, accusing Ann of ‘classism’ and querying whether her use of the word ‘background’ was a veiled reference to Meghan’s mixed race heritage.
