Architect proves that Paloma Faith’s still a draw

PALOMA FAITH was afraid that taking a breather to start a family would leave her ‘irrelevant’ to music fans.
The pop kook had her baby before Christmas 2016… and 11 months later was stunned to find herself topping the album charts for the first time with The Architect.
‘I’m surprised because there was a lot of fear about disappearing and having a baby and coming back and not being relevant any more,’ Paloma, 36, exclusively told Guilty Pleasures.
She has never revealed the sex or name of her baby, whose dad is French artist Leyman Lahcine. The Picking Up The Pieces singer’s self-doubt perhaps stemmed from the fact that she doesn’t feel like a true-born talent.
‘I think there are two types of successful people,’ Paloma explained. ‘Some people naturally fall into success because they’re super-talented and don’t even understand how they have been blessed with their talent.
‘Then there are people like me, that maybe aren’t as talented but have a lot of enthusiasm and drive to push for something and do it their own way.’ Now Paloma is inspiring young people by recording a song with them for Škoda’s Driven By Something Different campaign. She hopes they, too, are encouraged to find their own path. ‘That’s what I think I am looking for with this and hope the campaign represents,’ she said.
Paloma, whose comeback includes a 20-date UK tour this summer, added: ‘Every time you achieve something in life, it is a bit of a pinch-yourself moment.’
