All you need to know about Zak Abel

GP chats to singer Zak Abel, 22, about nudity, fancying Alicia Vikander and his ping pong skills. Zak’s debut album, Only When You’re Naked, is out now.
Have you ever been caught in the buff anywhere you shouldn’t have?
One time, I stripped down to my boxers in a busy street in Shoreditch. We were doing a photoshoot and there was nowhere to change. However, I have a high embarrassment barrier, so I didn’t mind.
Who is your celeb crush?
Alicia Vikander had me feeling some type of way in Ex Machina. She is solely responsible for the robot fetish I now possess.
We hear you were once a terrific table tennis player. Why switch to music?
I used to be ranked No.1 in the country for my age group. But my love for music took over and I couldn’t do both. Also, when was the last time you got a crush on a guy because of his sublime table tennis skills? Turns out the ladies are more into singers.
You used to be based in France. What were the pros and cons of living there?
The best was the bread. The worst? I was training so much I didn’t have time to consume as much bread as I would have liked.
Tell me about your influences…
Michael Jackson for incorporating so many different styles of music; Bill Withers for being able to talk about complex situations in a simple way; and Drake for bussin’ up the silence.
