All you need to know about The Hunna’s Dan Dorney
Dan Dorney, 25, of British band The Hunna, talks stage accidents, bad habits and one very memorable commute. The boys — including Ryan Potter, also 25, Jermaine Angin, 23, and Jack Metcalfe, 28 — will play Community festival at London’s Finsbury Park on July 1.
How did you settle on the band name?
We were originally called Alaska Campus when we were really young.
Sounds like a drag queen.
It really does! When we got signed, we came up with a new name — Jack loves hip-hop and continuously says “one hunna” [one hundred]. We were like, “That’s awesome”.
Frontman Ryan has a soft spot for stage-diving. Has it ever gone wrong?
I saw a video the other day that I need to show him. It looks like he’s being crowd-surfed, then he’s just dropped and disappears [laughs]. I’ve had an accident where I went into the crowd, smashed my leg on a railing, and had to play the rest of the tour with a swollen foot.
What is your worst vice?
Smoking too much.
Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever had sex?
I had sex on a train when I was 17. I was on my way back from Brighton at about 11pm. That was weird.
