All change for Katy… in her music, too

KATY PERRY appeared to reference Britney Spears’ notorious head-shaving meltdown as she discussed her new musical direction at the Grammys.
The Dark Horse singer, who flicked through three different outfits at the ceremony in LA, said ditching her trademark upbeat ditties for a new ‘purposeful pop’ sound had helped her overcome her demons.
She added: ‘It’s called taking care of your mental health. I haven’t shaved my head yet!’
Katy performed new single Chained To The Rhythm for the first time at the awards bash, taking to the stage with her collaborator on the track, Bob Marley’s grandson Skip, 20.
The song has been panned by some critics — but the 32-year-old said people should get used to her evolving sound.
‘It’s definitely a new era for me. I call it an era of purposeful pop,’ she said on the red carpet at the Staples Center on Sunday.
‘I used to be the queen of innuendo and I woke up a little bit more, educated myself a little bit more.’
