Alexandra Burke: My guy knows kiss is Strictly for show

ALEXANDRA BURKE says her boyfriend has no problem watching her writhe up against hunky Strictly Come Dancing partner Gorka Márquez — as he’s used to seeing her kissing other men.

The former X Factor champion put on a steamy show at the weekend, topping the BBC1 show’s leaderboard with an impressive paso doble.

And she laughed off talk she and the Spanish dancer were in danger of becoming victims of the ‘Strictly curse’.

Real-life fella, Josh Ginelly, is chilled about the pair’s on-screen chemistry.

She explained: ‘My boyfriend is used to seeing me on stage with other men — when I first met him, I was kissing two guys a night in Sister Act.’

And Josh is happy to put up with her gushing about the 27-year-old ripped dancer, which is just as well after she compared dancing with him to singing with her idol Beyoncé. ‘It’s a weird feeling being so completely connected to someone that everything else disappears,’ Alexandra told the Radio Times. ‘The only time I have felt like that before is when I sang with Beyoncé on The X Factor final.

‘I didn’t think anything would ever come close to that moment, but my first dance with Gorka matched it,’ she added.

‘When the music begins it’s like nobody else is in the room and it’s just me and Gorka in our own little bubble,’ she said.

Alexandra, 29, is enduring an emotional run on the show after her mum, singer Melissa Bell, died days before the series started.

But she is learning the moves from the best in the business.

She said of Gorka: ‘He’s a brilliant teacher, probably the only person I’ve met with more energy than me. I can’t keep up with him! We trained ten hours a day for the paso doble and doing him proud meant everything to me.’
