A right Doctor Who-ha kicks off after finale’s ‘all girl’ clue

IT’S the showbiz rumour that just can’t be exterminated… Doctor Who fans are more convinced than ever the next Time Lord will be a woman.
Viewers traded conspiracy theories after seizing upon a major ‘clue’ during Saturday’s series finale. In it, John Simm’s The Master asked: ‘Will the future be all girl?’ Peter Capaldi’s Doc tantalising replied: ‘We can only hope.’
Fans have taken that as a sign the Tardis will be run by a female time traveller for the first time. ‘If the Doctor regenerates as a man after that I will be displeased,’ tweeted one. Another wrote: ‘Does this mean a girl Dr Who?’
Broadchurch star Olivia Colman, 43, and Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 31, have now joined Death In Paradise star Kris Marshall, 44, as favourites to replace Capaldi, 59, who will bow out in the Christmas special.
Meanwhile, TV execs were forced to apologise when BBC Scotland HD viewers complained the sound was cut during Saturday’s closing scenes.
