A boy, a girl and a sedative for George Clooney

HOLLYWOOD star George Clooney has become a father for the first time after wife Amal gave birth to twins.
The actor and human rights lawyer welcomed their daughter Ella and son Alexander into the world yesterday morning — and a spokesman for the couple said the children are ‘healthy, happy and doing fine’.
However, the same can’t be said for Clooney — the spokesman joked the movie heart-throb is currently ‘sedated and should recover in a few days’.
It’s not yet known where Amal, 39, delivered the babies but the couple have been keeping a low profile in the UK in recent months. The last time Amal was pictured in public was at a film premiere in London in April.
Fans were quick to congratulate the pair yesterday, with one social media user posting: ‘This is nice, I’ll take good news over bad.’
The couple, who own homes in Studio City, California, and Lake Como, Italy, had their 17th century manor in Oxfordshire extensively renovated ahead of the arrival of the twins.
Clooney, 53, once Hollywood’s most sought-after bachelor, wed Amal in a star-studded ceremony in Italy in 2014.News of the pregnancy broke on US chat show The Talk in February — just a week after pop star Beyoncé revealed she, too, was expecting twins.
The Ocean’s Eleven actor, 53, had claimed in a 2006 interview that he had no plans to become a dad.
‘I think it’s the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids,’ he told People magazine. ‘I don’t have that gene that people have to replicate but everything in my life has changed over time.’
But in March, he boasted his swaddling skills were up to scratch, quipping: ‘I know what I’m in for.’
