80-year-old who saved Superman: Henry Cavill reveals pensioner’s pointers

AS SUPERMAN, Henry Cavill is ‘faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive’… but it has taken an octogenarian to keep his real life in check.
Cavill, 35, swears by 50 life pointers passed on to him by an 80-year-old man. He says the advice keeps things in perspective on ‘bad days’ — such as when he apologised for his #MeToo comments this month.
Currently starring with Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible — Fallout, the Brit actor shared: ‘A friend sent me this text a long time ago, and it stuck with me ever since.
‘It’s 50 points and it’s advice from an 80-year-old. I try to read through these 50 points every day. Especially on bad days it really helps, because it does bring things into perspective a lot.’
The self-help bullet points would have come in handy after the screen hunk was forced to furiously backpedal for saying he is too scared to flirt with women after #MeToo, in case he gets called ‘a rapist or something’.
Following a backlash, Cavill apologised for ‘any confusion and misunderstanding this may have created’. Away from media storms, he shared some of the unnamed 80-year-old’s handy life tips.
Now single after splitting from stuntwoman Lucy Cork this year, he picked the romantic ones, saying: ‘Choose your life’s mate carefully. From this one decision will come 90 per cent of all your happiness or misery.’
Another he relayed to TV’s Good Morning America was: ‘Never waste an opportunity to tell somebody you love them.’
