Your creepy music video for Fire That Burns features GoT star Isaac Hempstead Wright who plays Bran Stark. How did that come about?
We heard he might be a fan so tweeted him saying, ‘Do you fancy doing this?’ He replied: ‘I’d love to!’ It was very fortuitous and he was a proper good lad.
Did Isaac give you any spoilers about the show?
He did tell me that he knew everything but that he’d probably have to kill us if he told us. To be honest, we didn’t want to know because we’ve invested too many hours to ruin it now.
What are your rider requests?
We try and have a different spirit every night, so margarita Mondays, tequila Sundays… I asked for four Smirnoff Ices once, just to take me back to when I drank them when I was 16.
How would you describe your upcoming second album Different Creatures? (out March 10)
It’s wide-screen, cinematic… it’s basically saying we should be headlining festivals. It’s a record that doesn’t mess around at all and I think it’s going to be important for this generation.
What is your biggest pet peeve about music today?
There is a lack of metaphor in songwriting. I try not to listen to chart music too much but if it comes on the radio, there are certain artists saying really Spot the Dog lyrics. It’s so basic that I think it’s making our generation stupider.
