Most popular European car brands in the US

Every year, certain vehicle brands steal the show in terms of popularity. Buyers seem to go for the most popular brands because of how they are marketed, or simply because it is the latest model of their favorite car. Generally, the European automotive industry has been in the lead for years; hence it is not surprising that most of the customers have been opting for cars made in Europe. Even so, there are favorites among them, especially for the US market. Brands that have taken the lead include:
- Volkswagen
- Mercedes
- Audi
- BMW
These vehicles have been bought in numbers over the years. Different buyers have varied reasons for choosing their preferred cars. Below is a list of some of the most purchased vehicle brands in the past year.
Volkswagen Jetta
With more than 131,109 sold in the past year, this remains the number one European brand bought in the US. It featured among the 40 best-sold car brands in the year, which is quite impressive. Despite taking the US lead, it still registered a decline in the number of units sold than previous years. It would be interesting to see which position it takes at the close of 2020.
BMW 3 Series
These sleek vehicles are beautiful externally and seem to have an impressive performance that attracts buyers. This has been proven by the 94,527 units sold in the past year. It still is a favorite in the US and will probably continue to be for a few years to come. Most buyers prefer it to a lot of other luxury sedan selections. While the sales decreased slightly, it still maintains a favorable position as a favorite choice for many.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class
The Mercedes will never disappoint, and the C-Class did pretty well in the past year selling 86,080 units, according to therobsway.com. This impressive increase of 14.7 percent can be attributed to the fact that more people appreciate its sleekness. The positive trend is likely to be experienced this year, but it remains a matter of wait-and-see.
Volkswagen Passat
It is true when it is said that Americans love Volkswagen. The Passat registered an impressive 78,207 unit sale in the past year. Despite the company’s challenges a few years back, Americans were not discouraged as they continued to order for the posh vehicle. Generally, this model saw an impressive increase in sales, registering a 19.1 percent increase for the Passat. Overall, the Volkswagen models were a favorite for many in the US.
Volkswagen Golf
As mentioned before, Volkswagen took the crown as far as vehicle brands are concerned. US residents seemed to have fallen in love with the brand even more. The gold registered an increase in sales, with 65 308 units being sold in 2019. This was an increase of 93.9 percent in sales compared to the performance in 2014.
BMW X5
BMW’s popularity is still pretty steady, considering that 54997 units were sold in the US in 2019. As one of the most preferred luxury brands, this impressive result, marking a 16.9 percent increase from what was sold in 2014. This shows that BMW continues to be a popular choice for most Americans seeking to find available luxury vehicles.
Audi Q5
Audi is an excellent choice for most American homes. The Q5 sold 52,006 units in 2019, marking an increase of 22.6 percent in sales than in 2014. It also took the 95th overall popular brand position, which is impressive. Making it to the top 100 famous brands in the US is quite remarkable, with so many brands to opt for.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Coming at the 99th overall position, the Mercedes Benz E-class sold 49,736 units in 2019. This registered a sharp decline in sales, probably because the Mercedes Benz introduced a new E-class. It is possible that most people are waiting to get their hands on the new model, thus not keen on buying the older version hence the 25.1 percent decline. Even so, it is still pretty impressive that it made it to the top 100 most popular European brands in the US.
Other brands that are considered popular are the BMW 4 Series and the BMW 5 Series, which ranked among the ten most popular vehicles in the US at the time.
